Romance of Poetry and Fiction: My Moonlit Pilgrimage by Sasiprabha

Sasiprabha by profession is a doctor. She is no regular doctor who prescribes medicines in their own coded language that no layman can understand, she is the author of My Moonlit Pilgrimage, which was published in 2012. The novel is about a young girl’s pilgrimage to find the meaning of love. The settings of the novel is modern and she has given a story about how being in love and out of love are the two sides of the same coin.

In her own words, the story is about the protagonist’s browses through her memories to know the true meaning of the one thing that we all want to understand—love. She falls for a man in her journey and soon realized that it was worthless to fall for him. In her attempt to soothe her heart and to discover the crux of the love she had and everyone is after. This is her story of going on a pilgrimage to comprehend the gist of love through her memories.

She has written a novel in a new style and used the poetic nature that is embedded in her and her writing. The poems that adorn the front and last leave a deep impact on the reader. As you read through the novel seems like a journal of Sasiprabha, having such clarity to it and the way the words flow from her pen and make a wonderful rhyme and rhythm.

The novel gives you a vibe that the author is a fan of classics and the way the words have been chosen and woven into sentences, it becomes quite clear. Very few debutantes can boast of writing in such a way and expressing, which can only be achieved with years of writing.  Sasiprabha was introduced to the world of classics by her mother who is a MA in English.

She always was fascinated by the way they wrote their books and how she yearned to understand them or write like them. It was not possible as she wanted to focus on her career and writing took a back seat. After her surgoency, she had ample time to write. Sasiprabha wrote her first novel in just ninety days. My Moonlit Pilgrimage is her way of expressing the sentiment of love and how it changes a person.
