In conversation with Hindi poet, Dinesh Gupta

Dinesh Gupta is a computer engineer, who is currently working in Amdocs. He is from a small town in Madhya Pradesh. He has debuted with a Hindi poetry collection, “Meri Aankhon Mein Mohabbat Ke Manjar Hain”, which was released in 2012.

Dinesh, tell us something about you and the book.

“The depth inside me and the loneliness outside made me a shayar. “

I am Software Engineer by Profession and started writing by interest, but nowadays poetry is not only interest for me, it has entered into my blood.

Meri Aankhon Mein Mohabbat Ke Manjar Hain is collection of Poetry, Shayaris, Songs and Articles. Although theme of Book is Love as name says, but it also contains Poems on variety of Topics like Love, Desh-Prem, Corruption, Anna’s Andolan, Dreams, Terrorism, and Imbalance in Society between Poor & Rich. In one line I would say, it’s expression of feeling for Love (For someone or for Country), and with anger on social issues.

You are an engineer, and you are currently working in a company. How did poetry fits in the equation?

People always ask me about how I manage to mix engineering and poetry. I can only say that “Engineering is my Profession but Poetry is my Passion”.  As blood runs in my veins, words and poetry flow in mine.

Most of the youngsters are trying to get published in English. You debuted with a Hindi poetry book. How was the experience in getting it published?

Getting published was bit tough but it’s not because of Hindi as there are many reputed publisher for Hindi, However It was really tough to convince booksellers, distributors everyone in line to take Interest in Hindi Poetry Book as they are doing business and would like to take in hand most profitable/saleable things like English novel these days. Mostly, I got reply from all even publishers that market for Hindi poetry is very less. Changing fact & trend is quite difficult but still I think language cannot be a boundary to touch heart of people. Struggle is still there but I am trying my best.

The book has been released. What is the response been so far?

Response is good being new writer and new face in the field. Book is highly appreciated by everyone whoever reached to my poetry or book. I got very nice compliment from many of my readers. These are assets for me.

Which poem in the book is your personal favorite and why?

I think for a poet to decide which is his best creation, is like for a father to decide which child he likes the best. Every creation is from the heart and also very close to it. The one poem that made me realize that I was a writer is “Diya Antim Aas Ka”, and this is that is most liked by the readers.

What made you write poetry based on corruption and title the book as Meri Aankhon Mein Mohbbat Ke Manjar Hain?

Poetry for me is just an expression of feeling with some beautiful words, which we cannot explain in better way with sentences. It may be joy of being in love for someone or feeling of dying for country or the pain on social issues.

It was my first book, and I wanted to share all what goes inside me with my readers. So, I decided to include all in one, but since the title is romantic, majority of Poem & theme of Book is Love.

Any message you would like to give the young poets in the making and your readers in general.

Apne bhithar ki awaz  ko shabd dene ki koshish kijiye, rachna khud-bo-khud ban jaegi. Dil ki sune, shabd chune aur bas bune.

Ishq ka shayar hun toh kehna chahunga: "prem ek behad khubsoorat ehsas hai isse gujariye". Mohobbat padhe, mohobbat likhe, mohobat jiye, koi harz nhi hai, magar pehle mohobbat ko samjhe. Aur ek anurodh yuvaon se karna chaunga ki chetna ko zinda rakhe aur jab mulkh ko aapki zarurat ho uske saath khade rahe. Is waqt desh ke saamne kai samashyain hai aur unhe suljhane ke liye jawan, urjawan, ubalte hue garam khoon ki behad zarurat hai. Apni urja ko sahi disha mai lagae. Jitni mohobbat kisi chehre se ki hai utni zarurat padne per apne mulkh se bhi kar lena.

Machal jaenge jab jis oar us oar toofaan aata hai...
