Sale Of Souls by Vidyadhara : A Review
On
The Jacket –
Sale of Souls is a remarkable love
story of two village youngsters in the backdrop of land acquisition where the
gullible villagers are fighting to retain the ancestral village. Roshni, a
young advocate, joins the poor villagers to fight the powerful lobby of
industrialists and politicians. Samar trying for a peaceful solution to all the
issues in the village with his approach of 'sustainable development' finds
himself in love with his junior. The story is set in a remote village on the coast
of Canara, known for its beautiful environment and bio-diversity, which is
earmarked for land acquisition. The story revolves around the sensitive issue
of conflict of the poverty vs. development vs. the environment.
Now,
Review Time –
I have been very choosy when it
comes to reading debut authors as many of them disappoint me. And I avoids
reading chic – lits. And it’s a good thing that now days many authors coming
with different stories instead of repeating mushy love stories. And this book
serves you good romance and a story as well in backdrop. This book highlight
issues related to people and their problems.
Sale Of Souls is a story set up in village in
the times when India is developing country. I would not like to go to story as
it will spoil the charm of reading it. Author has amazed me with his writing style.. His narration skills are
awesome. Very different from all others. He fixes the plot so perfectly that
you can never doubt that it’s a fictional story. Story is well
knitted. All the characters are described very well. Vidyadhara has given best possible ending
with a good. Good thing about book is it unfolds twists one by one. And it
never seems like author is stretching the story. Author has handled situations
very well and tried to show many issues through the book.
Verdict
–
A Gripping book which doesn’t allow the
reader to keep the book down until you finishes reading it. A complete page-turner and with a
message in end and a good story. I
would like to rate this novel 4/5. This book worths a read.
