The Silent Howl of Demise by Jyotirmoy Mazumdar : A Review

On The Jacket –

Assam, 2002: A young girl, somewhere in her early twenties becomes a victim to her good deeds, in an attempt to save one of the victims of the blast, she lost her own life. Life and death though are the two different sides of the same coin, change human life, very differently. When an innocent heart loses a loved one to the adversities of life and the wrongs of the people, it sows the seed of revenge in the mind, and soul of the one who is affected. The maturity of the heart falls prey to the fury inside the mind of the victim. Harsh, along with his friends, go on an adventurous journey, to find the truth behind the death of his sister, but the venture, wasn't as peaceful as they expected it to be. In the turn of events, they find out the reality behind the fiction they believed, about their own friends. Revenge, it tastes sweet, verbally, but to attain the actuality of revenge, one needs to risk, everything they ever had. From the deepest parts of their corrupted souls, to the filthiest intentions of their conscious minds, and the luxurious dreams of their illusionary world, revenge takes away, all of it. Revenge, will, not make them surrender, but it might kill their existence. What would this revenge do to the purity of their characters and the poison of revenge in their hearts?

Storyline –

This is second book by Jyotirmoy Mazumdar. The story revolves around the brutal picture of Guwahati and the raging fire of some anti-national sources. The story starts with the news of Rimi's death and the journey of Harsh to seek justice for his sister and the people of Assam. This is story about terrorism, getting justice and taking revenge. It makes no sense for me to write it all over as one can make out what story is all about from back cover of book.
To know what happens next, you better read the book.

Now, Review Time –

Jyotirmoy Mazumdar has matured as a storyteller. If compared to his last book, he has improved a lot. This time he brings a fresh concept.  This story is far different from the mush and sex which are flooding market every day. This book is a fitting reply to all those who writes only juvenile, mushy, novels liberally laced with sex.

The Silent Howl of Demise, is Jyotirmoy Mazumdar latest book which comes at a time when the nation is up against the terrorism. Though the book is a totally work of fiction and the author has categorically mentioned that all references in the book have been fictitiously used, one can easily relate to a number of characters and/or events which the book takes us through. This book reflects a social and terrorism situation where politics is sovereign...

I really enjoyed each and every chapter without getting bored. The book is so gripping and page turner that something inside me didn't allow me to leave the book without finishing.

Author has done a great job with the concept of terrorism and politics. The atmosphere and beauty of Guwahati is very well described throughout the book. I loved the way each and every character is defined. Emotions of every character and feeling of revenge can be felt throughout the book. I feel connected. Author has given the perfect possible ending to the story.

Book is written in very simple, yet effective language. What I loved most is diary entries which unfold secrets on every page of it. His narration skills are awesome. And story is well knitted.

Only drawback which I found is few grammatical mistakes which could have been removed. But these mistakes can be overlooked as you find yourself engrossed in book.

Kudos to the author for the title and attractive cover page.

Verdict -

The book is good. It is a far cry and welcome change from the mushy, inane college-romances flooding the market today. It’s a good late night read. I will say more such books should be written.

We would like to rate it 4 out of 5.
