The Homing Pigeons by Sid Bahri : A Review

On the jacket –

In the middle of the catastrophic 2008 recession, Aditya, a jobless, penniless man meets an attractive stranger in a bar. Little does he know that his life will change forever.

When Radhika, a young, rich widow, marries off her stepdaughter, little does she know that the freedom she has yearned for is not exactly how she had envisioned it.

They say homing pigeons always come back to their mate, no matter where you leave them on the face of this earth. The Homing Pigeons is the story of love between these two unsuspecting characters as it is of lust, greed, separations, prejudices and crumbling spines.

Review Time –

This story is about Aditya who has recently lost his job owning to the global recession and Radhika who is a rich widow. The entire story revolves around them and the love they have for each other. Don’t think it’s a typical Bollywood story. It is not the boy meet girl story where they have some minor arguments and then end up living happily ever after. The book is about love, lost and found and then lost again.

The Homing Pigeons is the first book by Sid Bahri. And as a first time writer, Sid Bahri has done an outstanding job. He has left a very good impression in the mind of readers with her very first book itself. I just loved the way he has described every scene. Every character in book is perfectly sketched that it almost looks real. The flow of the story, the narration, the dialogues are perfect and this makes it an enjoyable read. The reader feels connected to it.  The book is not at all predictable, and this is a plus point. I kept turning pages. It is a complete page-turner. The last Part of the story was emotional and its ending was highly unpredictable. I was fully engrossed in this book.

The book is perfect in terms of grammar and spellings which make it more interesting read.

Verdict –

A Gripping book which doesn’t allow the reader to keep the book down until you finish reading it. I would like to rate this 4.25/5. I highly recommend this book to everyone out here. You will enjoy it. To be honest, author has built a lot of expectations for me for his next book. It definitely worth a read.
