The Exiled Prince by Ravi : A Review

On The Jacket:

Legend has it that there exists a supreme Crystal of Creation, with part of the souls of Lord Shiva and Narayana suspended within it. This single most powerful weapon with the power to construct, annihilate and recreate the universe, remained hidden somewhere deep within the Himalayan ranges for millennia until now. And now it has gone missing.

Rama, the hero of the ages, must embark upon a perilous journey to find the Crystal of Creation before someone else, someone with an insatiable lust for power, discovers it and the reign of the entire cosmos falls into his hands. And thus begins an epic adventure that will take Rama beyond the kingdom of Ayodhya into lands where he will have to battle the fiercest of demons that have colonized the earth and in the course, change the destiny of human lives forever. This tale will also seek to answer a question that has never been asked: Who was Rama really? What was his real purpose? Is he the real immortal? As powers greater than the universe itself come together only to erupt into chaos and intrigue, discover a tale set in a time before time, where the immortal Rama will come to life and reveal his mysterious world through his eyes as he begins his true purpose the quest for the Crystal of Creation.

Now, Review Time –

Experimentation with mythology is something new in popular Indian English writing. Every time I pick up a mythology, I try to gain knowledge from that particular book, about that particular religion. And when I picked up “The Exiled Prince” I had only one question in mind what this had to offer me, as I have grown up reading Ramayana in school or watching on TV. It was not first time I picked mythology book to read. In fact, now I am huge fan of mythologies as I feel being in some other world when I read them.

I will not get into the details of the plot because it makes no sense for me to write story all over again.

The plot reveals all the cards on the table, and ties all the characters and story very well together. It will definitely surprise you. Readers may brace themselves for a detailed history class. We recommend that you should read this book as it will take you on new journey itself.

The story is crisp and refreshing. Author has good imagination and has drafted an engaging story that keeps a reader hooked. The author’s grip is steady throughout the narrative, feeding only those facts that he wants the readers to lap up, and hazing out evident clues that could have made you guess the mystery. The description of the places and situations is precisely done and it can’t be better than this.

To be honest, author has built a lot of expectations for me for his next book. I would like to rate it 4 out of 5. If you like mythologies, you surely should give it a shot. It definitely worths a read.
