Book review : "The Secrets Of The dark" by Arka Chakrabarti

On the jacket:

Is one born with his destiny or does he forge it?

In the mystical land of Gaya, two prophecies bind the fate of men and empires alike. The Destroyer born from the royal seed on the Land of the Setting Sun shall bring the empires down, or so has been foretold.

In between the Destroyer and the world stand the Seven Guardians of Gaya, guarding the realm of man. A king, a father, defies the Seven and fate itself to save the last drop of his blood and prince Agni grows in the Land of the Rising Sun, exiled from his own people, unaware of his past.

Losing the woman he loved most to the shadows in the dark, Agni is thrown into a whirlpool of events that he neither knows, nor understands. His quest for vengeance brings him to the doorstep of a secret that will shatter the very foundation of beliefs of a world.

Can Agni avert his destiny? Can he uncover the truth about the Seven and the prophecies, now hidden behind a veil of ignorance?

The secrets of the dark are sometimes so terrible that they are better left unsaid.

Now, Review Time –

Experimentation with mythology is something new in popular Indian English writing. It was not first time I picked fantasy fiction book to read. In fact, now I am huge fan of fantasy fiction as I feel being on some other world when I read them.

I will not get into the details of the plot because it makes no sense for me to write story all over again.

The plot reveals all the cards on the table, and ties all the characters and story very well together. It will definitely surprise you. Readers may brace themselves for a detailed history class. We recommend that you should read this book as it will take you on new journey itself.

Author has good imagination and has drafted an engaging story that keeps a reader hooked. The author’s grip is steady throughout the narrative, feeding only those facts that he wants the readers to lap up, and hazing out evident clues that could have made you guess the mystery.

To be honest, Arka has built a lot of expectations for me for his next book. I would like to rate it 4 out of 5. If you like fantasy fiction, you surely should give it a shot. It definitely worths a read.
